The Direction of Technology

To some of us, especially those who have been observing the world situation for many years, the direction of technological advances has become increasingly clear. Astonishing develop-ments in certain specific fields are both troubling and enlighten-ing. What was science fiction fifty or even twenty-five years ago is now becoming science fact.

However, that science fiction was preparing the minds of the human populace to begin accepting what would once have been abhorrent and quickly rejected as unethical or immoral. Through this subtle and even subconscious conditioning of man, new advances are often accepted with little or no questioning.

The reader may think I’m propounding some sort of con-spiracy, a hidden plot to damage mankind. Truth be told, I’m proposing exactly that, for God has an enemy who has been working since the creation of man to damage and even destroy mankind. Recall the apostle John’s words: “The whole world lieth in the evil one.”¹

It should come as no surprise to the Christian that Satan does have a plot – a subtle, long-term, devious plan to damage man-kind to the extreme. Furthermore, to facilitate this plan he has brought forth certain scientific advances in just the right fields at the ideal time (ideal, at least, for his plan). While we may not clearly see what Satan’s goal is with all these incredible scientific advances, there certainly is such a goal. However, as the day of the Lord’s coming draws closer, what the evil one seeks is becoming more apparent. By the Lord’s mercy, may we come into the light, see the truth, and be warned of the satanic trap being prepared for all mankind.
