The Heart of God II
A man had six outdoor cats he loved dearly. They were his friends and companions. He fed them, cared for them, and spent time with them each day. One of the kittens, named Cello, went missing for many days. She was small, slender, and slightly built, and the man became very concerned.
A Heart That Seeks and Finds.
He searched the places where she might be hiding. He called her name again and again. He contacted his neighbours. None had seen her. Feeling very limited, he knelt in prayer and spoke to his Lord, asking Him to guide her home. He knew his Lord cared about all, from the lowest to the highest. His Lord’s heart was that great.
When Cello was finally found—thin and famished—he fed her, and then fed her more. He spent much time with her, just being there, near his dear friend. As he looked at her and stroked her soft fur, he began to weep—not because she had returned, but because he was realizing something deeper about his divine Father’s heart.
In one of the parables of Luke 15, from a great distance, a father sees his son coming home. He had been looking for him, hoping for his return. When he saw his son coming home, he ran out to meet him, being moved with compassion. He fell upon his neck and kissed him. His son, so long lost, had been found. His son, who was dead, was alive again.
My Reflection
These are not mere parables, but spiritual reality. We have such a divine Father. Although the Lord used parables to describe God’s seeking of lost souls, these parables are depicting spiritual reality. The Father longs for His children and does everything possible to bring them home to Him. We all were lost. We were dead. In the midst of such death and darkness, He found us. He found us! He came out to meet us. He fell upon our neck and kissed us. He carried us home in His arms.
How many souls are still lost? May God find them, even as He has found us. May He bring them home in His arms to the unimaginably great love of the Father who is seeking them.
