The Immense Worth of His Children
In The Heart of God, there is a simple truth woven through the reflections on Matthew’s words. Christ reminds us that not even a sparrow falls without the Father and then He lifts our eyes to something even more profound: “Here the Lord is pointing out the immense worth of His children.”
It’s easy to read past verses like this: sparrows, pennies, numbers of hairs. But the booklet slows us down. It insists that we look again. If God’s attention rests so tenderly on the smallest creature, how much more does His heart rest on us?
It then goes deeper into this theme, showing how every pain, every struggle, every moment of our lives touches Him. Not because He is distant and observing, but because He is present, involved, and emotionally invested in His creation. Even the suffering of the creation—the groaning Paul speaks of in Romans—is something God feels deeply.
The enemy knows this. He strikes at God’s creation because he knows it hurts God. Yet, God continues to love, continues to work toward something breathtakingly beautiful: sons who share and manifest His very nature.
This is the part that often goes unspoken—the depth of God’s patience, the long-suffering that transforms us into His image. He is not indifferent to our pain; He bears it with us. He is not blind to our worth; He declares it openly. So, when Christ says you are worth more than many sparrows, it is not poetic exaggeration. It is a window into the heart of God, a heart that sees, feels, and values you beyond measure.
May this truth settle into your spirit today: You are deeply seen. You are profoundly valued. And you never suffer unnoticed.
My Reflection
As I sit with this truth—that we hold immense worth in the eyes of God—I cannot help but think of the scars I carry. Being a Christian does not shield us from pain. In many ways, it gives us a deeper capacity to feel it. Walking with Christ comes with wounds, losses, and seasons that leave marks on the soul. I have lived through tragedies that reshaped me. Moments that pierced so deeply I wondered if I would ever breathe the same again.
But even there—especially there—I have found Him. In every season of breaking, one thing remains unshaken: The love of Christ is eternal.
Steady.
Present.
Unmoved by circumstance.
It is this love that has held me when life slipped out from under my feet. It is this love that whispered to me in the dark that I was still seen, still known, still worth something in the eyes of God. And somehow, through every scar, through every unanswered question, through every valley, I have encountered the goodness of God in ways I never expected.
This booklet reminds us that God feels the suffering of His creation, that He bears it with us. And, I have tasted that truth. Not as a doctrine, but as a divine experience. He has been faithful in the places that hurt the most. He has been present in the moments I felt forgotten. He has carried me when I had no strength left to stand.
So, when Christ says we are worth more than many sparrows, it is not a comforting phrase. It is a reality I have lived. A window into a Heart that refuses to let go of His children, even when life shatters around them. If you are reading this and carrying your own scars, may you know this today: You are not alone. You are not unseen. Even in your tragedy, God is still good. And, God has a purpose! His love does not falter. His faithfulness does not change. And, your worth has never been in question.
