We hear so much about the endtime signs, seasons, and the return of the Lord. It is a subject that stirs both curiosity and urgency. Yet, when we come to Scripture, we begin to see that the Lord’s return is not random, nor is it detached from what must first take place.
Certain things must happen. The Bible makes it clear that certain realities must unfold before the Lord returns. And, when we look around at all that is happening and even all that has not yet happened, we begin to realize something sobering: the Lord cannot return just yet.
Not because He is unwilling, but because His word must be fulfilled. And, in the midst of this, there is an opposition. The enemy is not passive. He seeks to frustrate, delay, and resist everything God has spoken. For every prophecy, every divine intention, every movement toward fulfilment there is resistance. This is where prayer becomes essential.
Not Just Prayer, But Specific Prayer
We often speak about prayer in general terms, and yes, general prayer has its place. For example, in the book of Revelation, the Apostle John uttered a simple, general prayer: Amen, come, Lord Jesus. Such a prayer is wonderful. However, when it comes to the Lord’s coming, Scripture points us to something more precise. There is a kind of prayer that aligns directly with God’s purpose. This is not a casual prayer. It is a specific prayer, one that corresponds with the fulfilment of God’s plan. It is a prayer for that which must come to pass.
The Deeper Reason We Pray
This brings us to something deeper something that shifts the focus entirely. If the Lord’s return depends on the fulfilment of what has been spoken, then what is our role now? We pray.
One of the matters for which we pray is the growth and maturity of the believers in Christ.
We pray this because the end is not only about signs in the world. It is also about the condition of the believer. God is not merely preparing events; He is preparing a people.
A people who are growing.
A people who are maturing.
A people who are being transformed into the image of Christ.
Our prayer for such growth matters deeply. Through prayer, we are not only giving God the means to increase growth in the believers, we are also being aligned. We are being brought into cooperation with what God is doing.
My Reflection
As I sat with this, something became very clear to me. It is easy to become focused on when the Lord will return. However, the deeper question is: Are the believers ready? Have we grown in Christ to maturity? Prayer is not just about calling for the end. It is about preparing the believers for it. It is about allowing the Lord to do within us what must be done, so that when the time comes, we are not only watching, but ready.
And, perhaps this is why prayer is so emphasized: because, while many things must happen outwardly, something must also happen within us.
This is only a glimpse. The Prayer of the End goes much deeper, opening up not just what must happen, but how we are to respond, how we are to pray, and how we are to grow in light of what is coming.
If something in you has been stirred not just to know more, but to be prepared then there is more waiting for you in the pages of the booklet.
