The Father Who Never Stops Looking

There are some truths we hear so often that they begin to lose their wonder. For example, God loves us.

We’ve heard those words countless times. We can quote the verses, sing the songs, and nod in agreement. But every now and then, the Lord gently reminds us that His love is far deeper than our familiarity with it.

The Father’s Heart

As I read The Heart of God II, I found myself seeing the Father’s heart in a fresh way. So often we speak about seeking God, longing for Him, or finding Him. Yet this booklet quietly turns that thought on its head. What if, before we ever began searching for God, He had already been searching for us? That thought stayed with me long after I finished reading.

Throughout Scripture, we see a God whose heart has always been to restore what was lost. From the Garden of Eden, where He called out, “Where are you?” to the Good Shepherd who leaves the 99 to find the one, the story of the Bible is not simply about people trying to find God. It is about a Father who refuses to stop pursuing His children.

That is the heart of God. Not distant. Not indifferent. Not waiting for us to become worthy. His heart has always been one of compassion, pursuit, and restoration.

God’s Seeking Heart

Luke 15 has always been known as the story of the prodigal son, but perhaps it is just as much the story of a Father whose eyes never stopped watching the horizon. A Father who continued hoping. A Father who was ready to run before a single apology was spoken.

That is what struck me most while reading this booklet. God’s heart is not merely willing to forgive. His heart longs to restore. He is not reluctant to receive us. He delights in bringing His children home.

It also reminded me that no one is ever beyond His reach. Whether someone has spent years away from Him or has never known Him at all, the Father’s desire remains unchanged. He still seeks. He still calls. He still waits with open arms. Perhaps that is one of the most beautiful pictures of God’s heart. Before we ever loved Him, He loved us. Before we ever searched for Him, His heart was already pursuing ours.

This booklet is more than a study about God’s love. It is an invitation to see the Father’s heart as it truly is—patient, compassionate, persistent, and always reaching toward those who are lost.

My Reflection

As I closed The Heart of God II, one question lingered in my heart: How often do we think we are searching for God, when all along He has been searching for us?

That thought changed the way I viewed the Father’s love.

Sometimes we imagine God standing at a distance, waiting for us to finally get everything together before we can approach Him. But the Scriptures reveal something entirely different. They reveal a Father whose heart has always been moving towards us.

His pursuit didn’t begin at the cross. It didn’t begin when we decided to pray. It has always been His heart to seek, to save, and to bring His children home. And if that is the Father’s heart towards us, shouldn’t it become our heart towards others?

There are people all around us who feel forgotten, ashamed, or too far gone. Yet heaven sees them differently. The Father is still searching. He is still calling. He is still waiting for the moment they turn towards home.

Perhaps our greatest privilege as believers is not simply knowing the Father’s heart, but reflecting it to a world that desperately needs to experience His love.

Because in the end, The Heart of God II leaves us with one beautiful reminder:

Long before we ever thought of seeking Him, the Father’s heart had already begun seeking us.
